Water Hyssop - Bacopa monnieri is the host plant for the
White Peacock - Anartia jatrophae luteipicta. We have loads of Water Hyssop in our backyard pond.
Day-1 (10/8/2007) a White Peacock - Anartia jatrophae luteipicta
egg was oviposited on the underside of a Water Hyssop - Bacopa monnieri leaf.
Day-4 (10/12/2007) the caterpillar eclosed.
Day-13 (10/21/2007) from when the egg was laid. Day- 9 from eclosing.
The caterpillar is 15mm long.
Day-18 (10/26/07) from when the egg was laid, Day 14 from eclosing.
The caterpillar is 35mm long.
Day-20 (10/28/2007 at 0600hrs) from when the egg was laid, Day-16 from
eclosing. The caterpillar made a "J". The caterpillar spent most of the previous day roaming around in its box,
so I placed it in a larger box with a single twig.
Day-20 (10/28/2007 at 1600hrs) from when the egg was laid, Day-16 from
eclosing. The chrysalis is 20mm long.
Day-24 (11/1/2007) from when the egg was laid, Day-20 from eclosing,
and Day-4 as a chrysalis.
Day-26 (11/3/2007) from when the egg was laid, Day-22 from eclosing,
and Day-6 as a chrysalis.
Day-27 (11/4/2007 at 0810hrs) from when the egg was laid, Day-23 from
eclosing, and day-7 as a chrysalis.
Day-27 (11/4/2007at 0810hrs) from when the egg was laid, Day-23 from
eclosing, and day-7 as a chrysalis.
Day-27 (11/4/2007at 1200hrs) from when the egg was laid, Day-23 from
eclosing, and the White Peacock - Anartia jatrophae luteipicta emerged and was released on the same Water Hyssop
- Bacopa monnieri where the egg was oviposited on 10/8/2007.
